Biography:
Born in Austria, Joseph Anton Koch settled in Rome in 1795. Carstens influenced his work and he assisted the Nazarenes in decorating the Casino Massimo. He is mostly remembered for his landscapes that were a combination of Poussin’s painting style and that of the Romantic period.
