Biography: Jan Asselyn spent most of his career in Amsterdam, though he lived in Italy for a few years beginning in the late 1930’s. Although most of his work consisted of landscapes, his most famous work is titled The Threatened Swan, which is thought to be a work of Dutch patriotism.
